Around Park Slope: Caramello Gelato

Late the other night, Kaitlin and I needed to escape the apartment for a little while, so we took a walk around the neighborhood. We stumbled across Caramello, a new gelato place that just opened up in Park Slope at 179 5th Ave. (between Lincoln and Berkeley). The staff was amazingly friendly and told us all about the new shop. They feature 20 flavors of gelato along with 12 flavors of sorbet made with fresh fruits, all made from scratch at the store by Nicoletta, the owner. Kaitlin tried White Chocolate Raspberry and I got Salted Caramel along with Menta, all of which were amazing. They also have a great selection of baked goods and we’re told that they are going to start serving waffles as well, which will make Kait a happy girl!

If you’re ever in Park Slope you should definitely stop by and get some gelato at Caramello.

Day Trip to White Silo Winery

Last year for Valentine’s Day Kaitlin bought us a wine tasting and tour at White Silo Farm & Winery in Sherman, CT from Travelzoo.  With wedding craziness dominating our free time, we didn’t get a chance to actually make the day trip from NYC until the end of October. So while we are a little late on sharing photos, it was such a great trip we wanted to do a quick post.

The winery is located only about an hour and a half outside of the city, which makes it an easy day trip. The tasting included 4 choices from their homemade wines, their  house specialty blackberry sangria (amazing), plus a bottle of our choice to take home.  Our favorite ended up being the Black Current wine with the Dry Rhubarb close behind. After the tasting and the tour we were encouraged to go out to the vineyard and pick fresh berries.

It was so relaxing to get out of the city for a day and enjoy the last remaining moments of fall. The country side was beautiful and reminded us both a lot of West Virginia.

This was our first of what I hope are many day trips out of the city. We’d love to hear about some other great day/weekend excursions! Feel free to leave a comment down below with your favorite recommendations.

We’re back!

At a Yankees game!We’re back!

It’s true. The Walker’s are back and blogging! Can you believe it’s been 8 months since our big day?  We can’t either.

We took some time off from updating the world (ok, more like the 10 people who probably read this) on our happenings, but we’re ready to go at it again. So welcome to ‘Wherever I’m With You’ – a place where we’ll share about household projects, our favorite things, adventures and trips, and our daily life here in NYC.

We’re getting the hang of this whole, ‘being married’ thing and you could say we’re big fans. We love doing life together and we’re excited by the many adventures that await us, wherever we may be!

Cheers!
